This has been a great summer. I finished up revisions of Fading and even started a new project! A big shout out to Jamie Marrow, Erin Funke, Katy Upperman, and Alison Miller for setting this whole thing up, you guys rock!
Throughout this summer Ready. Set. Write gave me the motivation I needed to really push myself in my writing and my goals. It was challenging at times what with all the summer activities going on, but accountability definitely helped me to stick to my goals. Even though I didn't meet them every week, I TRIED, which is better than nothing.
How I Did On Last Week's Goals:
I stuck to taking a break and it was really nice to step back and enjoy the last bit of summer with my kids. I didn't get in that 1k, but I got some reading done and even beta'd for someone!
The Biggest Challenge I Faced This Week:
Other than pure summer laziness? Not much.
A Favorite Line:
The
untidy threads of my life were coming loose. They criss-crossed in fashions of
disarray, the seams ugly and unhinged. My heart and head went to war with each
other. I didn’t hate my mom. I loved her. But there was a part of her I didn’t
understand, and that was where love began its tread on shaky ground.
Something I Love About My WIP:
I think it would have to be the music that inspired many of my scenes. I don't do playlists but I have Pandora and I listened to Lorde's channel exclusively for inspiration. I adore her and I love everything that comes up on it!
I'm going to miss these weekly updates and reading how everyone else is doing. I can't believe summer is over! But I'm glad I was able to participate and for the things I was able to accomplish.
Love the lines you shared today, Prerna. Congrats on all of your RSW success and best of luck with your projects moving forward... I can't wait to see where they go from here!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy RSW was helpful to you this summer! And I agree that trying is better than nothing. There will times when you just can't get everything done that you want to, whether due to busyness or writer's block or whatever, but putting in the effort keeps you moving forward even if it's with baby steps. I definitely felt that way at times this summer too. Hope the fall is just as productive for you! :)
ReplyDelete"Even though I didn't meet them every week, I TRIED, which is better than nothing." Yes! That's a really good point, Prerna. I need to remind myself of that as well. Without setting the goals I did, I might not have put in any effort this summer. I'm so happy you decided to join us! :-)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the excerpt! Also, I am so glad you joined in for RSW and that it was a productive summer for you! I plan to continue my updates through WUW - hopefully I can keep up with you there!
ReplyDeleteAwesome excerpt! I'll miss these weekly updates, too. Wishing you so much luck on your WIP!
ReplyDeleteIt is sad it's over! I always looked forward to Monday. But it was nice to meet some lovely people. Here's to this fall being as awesome as summer was!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing your revisions and it's great you started something new! And I loved the excerpt.
ReplyDeleteLove that excerpt! :) Definitely going to miss seeing everyone's RSW posts, too!
ReplyDeleteMusic always plays a big part in my writing, too. I make playlists, but usually end up listening to the same few songs on repeat over and over.
ReplyDeleteLove your snippet!
