What's Up Wednesday

What's Up Wednesday is a weekly meme geared toward readers and writers, allowing us to touch base with blog friends and let them know what's up, put on by Jamie Morrow and Erin Funk. If you'd like to join click on the links above!

What I'm Reading:
An awesome contemporary with two protagsdifferent as night and day, stuck with the same name. Being Sloane Jacobs by Lauren Morrill is quite entertaining. I've loved the whole switching places story line since watching The Parent Trap (the original) when I was ten. It's a fun book with cute boys, ice skating, hockey, rivalries, and family drama. Loving it so far.

What I'm Writing:
I'm still sitting at 43k. Haven't done much writing in the last couple of days. I've been busy with kids, house work, surviving while the husband is out of town, and also beta reading for a CP. I'm going to try and make a big push tomorrow. Right now I just want to relax a bit and keep reading!

What Inspires Me Right Now:
I can't pinpoint one particular thing, but what comes to mind right now is just being alive. Partaking in the day to day mundane activities is even inspiring. Sometimes I take for granted how great life is. Even when it's difficult, and it seems like everything is getting worse not better, the fact that I can be here and enjoy my family, read amazing books, write (hopefully) amazing books, that's inspiring.

What Else I've Been Up To:
Watching some kick-butt movies. On Friday I dragged The Husband to see Vampire Academy, which I LOVED (him not so much). Then last night I rented Austenland and it was perfect. Ugh, gave me the feels and had me laughing from start to finish. I highly recommend both.

  1. Sometimes we do need to be reminded that being alive is awesome in itself. It's something we should celebrate every day.
Good luck with your big writing push tomorrow!

  3. Being alive is always a good thing. Sometimes I actually enjoy the quiet days better than the crazy busy days. So enjoy the calm. I hope you have a wonderful week!

    1. Quiet days are definitely my favorite. With four kids, getting them is rare, but it's so amazing when I do.

  4. Relaxing for a bit is a good plan. I'm hearing good things about Vampire Academy (at least, from the fans) - I'm hoping to see it when it eventually comes to the UK. Have a great week!

  5. Some weeks you just have to focus on life and writing has to take a back seat. That's okay. Follow your heart and the writing will benefit when you do get to it.

  6. I'm in a similar position writing-wise as you are this week. I'm hoping to squeeze some in after a week without any writing. Life just makes that tricky sometimes, wouldn't you agree? But, like you say, all of these seemingly mundane things are actually good things and inspiring things. I hope you have a great week with lots of inspiration and writing. :-)

  7. Hmm, skating and hockey? Sounds good to me!

I love that you're finding inspiration in everyday things. I think it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking we need to be doing exciting things all the time and forget to be content and see the importance of the little things in our daily lives.

Good luck with that big writing push, and in the meantime enjoy relaxing and reading!

  8. At least you got the hubby to go to the movie! I haven't seen it yet, but have heard good things. I love your answer to what's inspiring you. It's so true :)

  9. Love the original Parent Trap! I dragged my hubby (then bf) to see the Spice Girls movie when we were teens. I don't think he's quite forgiven me, even all these years later :)

  10. Life is pretty awesome, and we take way too much for granted. I'm beginning to wonder if that was one of the reasons Stephen King wrote THE STAND. It certainly makes you think about things like that.

All the best to you this week, Prerna. I hope the words flow, and you get some time to write them! :)
