Conferences

I mentioned before that I'll be attending my first writing conference in May, the LDStorymakers conference. I'm a little nervous. Especially because I also signed up to pitch to an agent. Eep! Cue nervous nail biting and embarrassing armpit sweating. I have no idea what I'm supposed to do while at the conference. They are offering a bunch of free workshops and I'm not sure which ones to attend. I would love to know what your experiences were at your first conference. And if you will also be there in May, please let me know. I'm scared I'm going to end up being the weirdo in the corner holding my notepad against my chest with wide eyes while I watch everyone else mingle and have fun. I'm attending the Saturday workshops, so if you'll be there, let's meet up. Please. And also, any suggestions on pitching to an agent are much appreciated. Not sure how all that works, I've got the gist of it, but more tips are welcome.

  1. I loved Storymakers last year and I'll be there on Friday this year! The boot camp is really great, I would sign up for that if I were you. :)

  2. First of all you not be a weirdo, second of all, you will LOVE IT!! I went last year and it was a blast. When you get there, you'll be surprised at how many people you know (such as myself)and even if you can't find me everyone is super-duper nice. I bet you'll figure out which classes you want once you're there. Plus, people will gladly suggest the best speakers. I'll be on the lookout for you. I'm giving a pitch as well so maybe we can practice on each other :) Also, if you're going to be there Thursday me and David Powers King are hosting a party at the provo library, Here's the deats if you want to come - https://www.facebook.com/events/259468414187318/

  7. Just prepare a short pitch. They'll ask questions after that, and it will fill up the time. Good luck!
