Ready. Set. Write! Update: Week 6

Has it already been six weeks??? Sheesh, this summer is going by fast. Here's how my goals went:

Revise another chapter or two: Yup! Got two done. Both were a little intense because I deleted old scenes and added brand new ones, but it was well worth it.

Write new words: I did this... kind of. Since I added a new scene in the project I'm currently revising, I think it counts?

Read something: I read The Wrath and the Dawn, and it was incredible! This has been the year of Fantasy, let me tell you. So many amazing books! I also started Daughter of Deep Silence by Carrie Ryan and really like it so far. I've never watched the show Revenge, but the premise sounds very similar.

Spend time with my kids: We had a great week filled with activities. My father-in-law was in town for work and we got to hang out with him and the kids had a blast with their grandpa. We also finally set up the tennis net on our court after almost five years. It's main function is a basketball court, but my kids love riding their bikes and other toys on there as well. Fun times.

My Goals For This Week:

Revise!
Read!
Kids!
Nothing too specific, I just want to get SOME kind of writing done.

A Favorite Line From My Story/ Phrase That Sums Up What I Wrote/ Revised:
Friendship. The chapter I focused most of my attention was very friendship centered and it was great to see the dynamic between my MC and her bff, who is a favorite side character of mine.

The Biggest Challenge I Faced This Week:
Energy, or lack thereof. As the pregnancy progresses my energy stores deplete and this week was especially difficult. I wanted to take a nap every day!

Something I Love About My WIP:
Currently, the way it's coming together again. I changed the first third of it quite a bit and the changes have ripple effects along the whole manuscript, but they work!

Hope you all had a productive week!

  1. I loved THE WRATH & THE DAWN too! Such an incredible story! I really like writing friendship scenes too, though I struggle with them far more than I do romantic scenes. It's tough to make a friendship feel deep and genuine! Best of luck with your goals this week, Prerna!

  2. Nicely done on writing two new scenes! Sounds like you're making some great progress this summer. Isn't it crazy how fast it's flying by? I can't believe we're halfway through already. On that note, enjoy every last minute you have with your kiddos, and I hope the revisions continue to go well this week! :)

  3. Great job on revising two chapters and of course it counts for added words if you wrote a new scene.

  4. Adding new words to what you're revising definitely counts! I did the same this past week. :-) I really enjoyed THE WRATH & THE DAWN as well. Have you read AN EMBER IN THE ASHES yet? I loved that one! You're right, there's some great fantasy out right now. Hope you have a productive week, Prerna!

  6. Sounds like you're getting a lot done. I want to take a nap every day too, but I don't have the pregnancy excuse anymore. Maybe I can use "getting old" now! ;)
    Have a great week!

  7. You are getting tons done! The tennis court sounds like so much fun - what a great idea for bikes and riding toys. Good luck with your goals this week and I hope your energy levels stay up. It's no joke being pregnant with other little ones in the house :)

  8. I love the goal of simply getting SOME writing done. But it sounds like you've been a busy beaver anyway. Keep it up!
