What's Up Wednesday

What's Up Wednesday is a weekly meme geared toward readers and writers, allowing us to touch base with blog friends and let them know what's up, put on by Jamie Morrow and Erin Funk. If you'd like to join click on the links above!

What I'm Reading:
I've slowed down the reading train a bit. I finished Star Cursed (LOVED, but the cliff hanger nearly killed me!). I'm in the middle of Defy by Sara B. Larson, but have been a little distracted preventing me from really get into it, or any other book for that matter. It's not bad, in fact it's quite well written, but my mind is preoccupied at the moment.

What I'm Writing:
And here lies the reason for my lack of reading. I've been writing, or thinking about writing, a lot lately. Not only have I been critiquing some great stuff by other awesome writers, but my own manuscript has taken over most of my life. I can't stop thinking about it, or my characters. Which is a good thing, it's helped a lot to move up the word count. Which is almost at 30k! Not only am I writing a new WIP, but I'm fixing up Restoring Casey as I get feedback from some betas. Exciting and exhausting times, let me tell you. But mostly exciting. I can't wait to see what the year holds with my writing.

What Inspires Me Right Now:
Debut authors! There are so many fabulous books coming out this year by debuts, and not only are these writers inspiring, but they're pretty dang good at what they do. People claim publishing is dying, but I don't see the wheels slowing down quite yet. It's a great time to be a writer, I think.

What Else I've Been Up To:
The weather outside has been far from frightful. In the high 40s, pretty spring-like with lots of sunshine. I love it. I wish it would stay that way. Me and the kiddos have been spending a lot of time outside with the pups, running around, frolicking, swinging on swings, you know, the usual warm weather shenanigans.

What's Up With You?

  1. It's actually 6C (42F) where I live in Alberta right now, which is really kind of bonkers for us. The only thing taking away from this gorgeous sunny day is the super intense wind blowing out there. Yikes!

I *finally* ordered myself a copy of BORN WICKED, so I'm hoping I love it. I'll have to brace myself for the cliffhanger you mention at the end of the sequel. That's great that you've been writing (or thinking about your story) so much lately. I can't wait until I'm at that point again!

  4. I LOVE it when muse hijacks my brain like that and I don't want to do anything but write, write, write. It doesn't happen all the time, so enjoy it while it lasts! I hope you have a wonderful week, filled with lots and lots of wonderful writing.

  6. Forty degrees feels like a heatwave after the arctic cold last week! the sun out in winter really helps. I usually had January and Feb because it's so dreary. A little bit of sun is so nice. Helps to get outside too.

40F? I think that's about 5 degrees in C. Sounds like t-shirt weather to me!

  10. I'm so jealous of your nice weather! We have 107 km winds here today. Blah. It's so awesome that you're in the writer zone these days. Isn't it a great feeling when a manuscript takes over like that? Best of luck with the drafting and fixing up your other story!

  11. I totally agree with you regarding debut authors being an inspiration! There are dozens of 2014 debut books on my TBR list. And yay for you being so consumed with your story! I love when I get that way about an idea. Makes the writing process much more fun. Have a great week, Prerna!

  16. The best reason for slowing down the reading pace is because the writing has stepped up. All the best with your projects, Prerna! :)
