What's Up Wednesday

What's Up Wednesday is a weekly meme geared toward readers and writers, allowing us to touch base with blog friends and let them know what's up, put on by Jamie Morrow and Erin Funk. If you'd like to join click on the links above!

What I'm Reading:
Endless Summer by Jennifer Echols. I've had in my Kindle for a while, but had so much other reading material to get through that it's just been sitting there. Thoughts of it so far: Cute, romantic, the two MCs definitely have great chemistry. But I have to say the MC, Lori, kind of gets on my nerves at times. All her scheming, I mean, really, how often do teenagers come up with such idiotic ways to get what they want? That's my only complaint. Going Too Far is still, by far, my favorite Jennifer Echols novel.

What I'm Writing:

I got about twenty pages through revisions. Mostly I've been dealing with my disaster house and getting stuff done for crit camp and so I haven't put as much effort into it as I should. My goal is to get through the last 80 or so pages and be done by next week.

What Inspires Me Right Now:

We're going on our annual Pickett Family camping trip (the picture above is of the river we float down on our awesome raft). I love being up there in the wild, cooking over a campfire, roasting marshmallows, smelling like the great outdoors. And the great thing about this location is that there's indoor plumbing! I had a very traumatizing outhouse experience as a teenager and would rather use the woods than ever step into one of those again.

What Else I've Been Up To:
Yes, that would be my feet on my new carpet that got installed just yesterday! I was so excited I did cartwheels all over our new basement floor (I haven't done cartwheels since high school. In other words, I haven't done them since I had 4 freaking kids. Pretty proud of myself for not falling on my butt or spraining my wrist). Almost all of the house is back in order. The only room we haven't finished setting back up is my daughter's, which we will get to later on today. I am so relieved this whole process is over and we can roll over our very soft and plush new carpet.

What have you been up to?

  2. Woo-hoo! sounds like a great getaway location!

I bet it's so nice to have (most) of your furniture all back in place so the kids aren't crammed up so tight anymore ;)

Keep pushing on those revisions, you'll get there :D

    1. it is gorgeous, the only downside is that it's up in the mountains so it gets super cold during the nights. Need plenty of sleeping bags and blankets to bundle up.

  5. Twenty pages of revisions is nothing to sneeze at. Good for you! I've been avoiding my revisions like the plague and working on shiny new project, so you're doing better than I am!

I really need to read GOING TOO FAR by Echols. I like her stuff and I have a copy on my shelf, so that might have to get bumped up the pile.

Have fun on your camping trip! :)

    1. thanks, 20 pages is good. I tend to avoid revisions at first too, especially when i get near the end, maybe because I'm afraid of what awaits me after.

  7. AHH!!!! We are Echols twins. Going Too Far is my absolute fav of hers! Well, that I’ve read. Endless Summer & Such a Rush are on my list in the next month. I guess her newest one is also. But GTF is….amazing!

Good luck on revisions! I always say 10 words is more than non. So, a page is a page in your case!!

Yay for camping & new carpet. That’s so funny, I was trying to teach kiddo how to do a cart wheel & I did one in the back yard…I was a bit scared! But, I didn’t break anything. YAY. Haha.

  8. Well done for getting as much revision done as you did, Prerna. You may not have achieved your goal, but every bit counts. :)

I hope you have a great week enjoying the new carpet, and making progress with the revisions!

  9. Hooray on the house renovations happening. LOVE that river photo-- how amazing! I hear you on the outhouses-- no fun. I'd rather go anywhere else. I think camping can be a lot more fun if a bathroom/shower is accessible. :0)

  11. Sounds like your one busy woman. Cartwheels after four kids…impressive! I'm a HUGE fan of outdoors, too. My family goes camping every year. Best of luck with the last 80 and finishing putting the house together.

  12. Woo-hoo for the camping trip! We want to do the same thing, but it seems we won't have any time until September or October. I prefer cool nights, anyway. Have fun! :)

I have yet to read Echols. I might have one or two of her books and I've been meaning to read them.

Good luck on your writing goals.
