What's Up Wednesday

What I'm Reading:
Belle Epoque by Elizabeth Ross, a historical fiction that takes place in Paris during the late 1800s. It's fascinating. The descriptions  transport you to the Parisian streets and the bustle of Aristocratic life. The premise is original and I'm curious as to whether it's true or not. The only issue I have is with the MC Maude. She's a bit...boring? There's no pep in her step, no spunk. I'm hoping she grows a personality as the book progresses. Either way I'm enjoying myself.

What I'm Writing:
17,000+ words into NaNo! Way ahead of where I was last year. I've gotten to the good, meaty stuff and it's helping quite a bit in the inspiration department.

What Inspires Me Right Now:
Pandora. I have it on the majority of the day and it makes writing and cleaning go by much faster. Right now I'm obsessed with the Lorde channel. LOVE her stuff and the other artists that it plays. I've discovered a few new bands to fall in love with.

What Else I've Been Up To:
Surviving. Life can get a bit overwhelming, stressful, exhausting at times and right now I'm just trying to get through a patch where it seems to be everything at once. Writing is helping, so is reading. Oh well, c'est la vie!

What have you been up to?

    1. I guess life wouldn't be quite as interesting if things didn't get all muddled every now and then.

  3. I totally forgot about BELLE EPOQUE. It's on my TBR list, but I think it got lost in the shuffle somewhere. I'm happy to hear that you're enjoying it. And you're making awesome progress on NaNo. Good for you! Maybe next year I'll be able to take part. Have a great week!

  4. I haven't heard of BELLE EPOQUE, but I've read a few historical YA's recently and I'm enjoying them, so I'm adding this to my pile. Way to go with NaNo and using the music to keep you going. Sorry life is overwhelming right now. You can make it. I believe in you!

  7. Wahoo! Here's to surviving! *raises a wedge of cheese* Sometimes that's all you can do--especially when the crazy hits the fan. (Or the fans hit the crazy.) Hey--I didn't realize you were a Campaigner. Which Campaign were you part of, and which group? I was part of 1, 2, and 3, but kind of got lost in the bustle of what followed.

    1. Thanks, cheese helps! I was a part of the 2nd and the 3rd Campaign (although the third one sort of just vanished during the middle). It was a lot of fun. I hope to do it again whenever there's another one.

  8. Oh, man, I feel for you about rough patches. My October and September were particularly hellish this year. Hope things get better for you soon and good luck with NaNoWriMo.

  9. You're doing fantastically with NaNo! I'm glad it's helping to keep your mind off the challenges life's throwing your way. Hope things get easier for you soon. I've been using Pandora a lot lately too, and I'm finding it inspiring as well. I don't usually listen to music when I write, but I found a cool classical station, and I'm liking it.

  12. Everything at once? I hear ya! Hang in there. Sometimes life is just overwhelming and I have to remind myself that it's okay for some things to go on the back burner.

But YOU are making exceptional progress with NaNo!!! Go YOU!

  14. Yay for word count! It can be a little disconcerting when the main character of a book is the least compelling part of her world, can't it? Nice to meet you.
