What's Up Wednesday

What's Up Wednesday is a weekly meme geared toward readers and writers, allowing us to touch base with blog friends and let them know what's up, put on by Jamie Morrow and Erin Funk. If you'd like to join click on the links above!

What I'm Reading:
Currently, The Beautiful and the Cursed by Page Morgan. I'm really enjoying it. And Gargoyles! I was obsessed with the cartoon  when I was younger and have been waiting for a book to come along that would reignite that obsession. I love the historical aspect of the story and the characters are engaging. So far so good.

What I'm Writing

Still revising! I'm actually really happy with where the revisions are taking me. Deleting scenes is hard, but I know my story is better for it. I did revise the first fifty pages. I want to do another twenty by next week. My inciting incident has moved up with the revisions, but I think I still need it to come a bit sooner.

What Inspires Me Right Now:
WriteOn Con! It's my first year participating and I've loved it so far. There's so much great information out there and the agent forums are a time sucking zone because I can't stop reading other queries and 250s and pages. I posted my query letter on there to be critiqued and got such great feedback on it and I'm really happy with where it's at right now. If you're interested, here it is: http://writeoncon.com/forum/showthread.php?11605-YA-Contemporary-Restoring-Casey&highlight=restoring+casey

What Else I've Been Up To:
Gearing up for school to start. I can't believe it. Less than two weeks until both my boys start! It's exciting yet a little bit sad. My 5 yo can't wait to go, he's more than ready, but it also means my babies are getting older and they're getting closer to the point at which they won't think I'm awesome anymore. I can practically hear the slamming doors already.

What have you been up to?

  1. Yay for making it to WriteOnCon. This is my 3rd year, and it's awesome every time. You know, that's where I landed my favorite critique partner. Crazy, eh? We liked what each other said about our first pages.

Hope I bounce into you there!

  3. I just ventured back to WriteOnCon today, after realizing I'd forgotten my password from last year and having to wait for a new one to start reading the forums again. I wish there were more historical represented (other than historical fantasy or paranormal), but it is what it is.

  4. Awesome that you're making such great headway with revisions! That's such a good feeling. And also awesome that you're getting good feeback on your query on WriteOnCon. I posted my query last year and had one person tear it to shreds, so I've been chicken about returning. (That was one of my first forays into sharing my writing, so it kind of stung.) I know how great it can be, though, so maybe next year! Have a great week, Prerna! :-)

  6. I've been so busy I totally forgot it was Write On Con time! But I'm glad you're participating and finding it useful. I haven't ever submitted anything for critique, but I do love reading what everyone puts out there and there are always helpful articles.

Great job with your revisions! Keep going!
